Buying your first camera as a content creator? 📸

Many content creators in the community have told us that they’re using their phones to create content temporarily while planning to purchase a camera soon. This is why we decided to share some helpful tips to make sure you make the right camera purchase.

Let’s get right into it!

SAVE VS SPLURGE — CAMERA BODY & LENS 📸

Buying a camera can be tricky. There are parts of your camera you can afford to save on and other parts where you absolutely have to go all out to get the best results. Let’s explore this a bit further.

WHEN SHOULD I SAVE?
If you’re a content creator and not necessarily a full-time photographer, we strongly advise saving on the camera body as this wouldn’t have a great impact on the quality of work you can produce.

Buying an old model body (can be brand new or fairly used) is usually our recommendation because you can make the purchase quickly as you wouldn’t need to save up for a long time.

Buy: Canon T6i/750d. It’s durable and has great quality.

CAN I SPLURGE NOW?
It’s time to bring out all your coins and spend on some quality lens. As a content creator, the lens you use to shoot is where the difference is really at. With a great lens, you can have the most rickety camera body and still create beautiful and crisp images.

This is why you’d hear a lot of content creators say they’ve had their camera body for several years and only change lenses.

Buy: Canon 50mm f1.8 lens if you have a lot of room to create content and the 35mm f1.8 if you have limited space.
